April Showers?

Winter just can't quite seem to let go here in Northern California as dark gray skies have returned with isolated showers and some thunderstorms predicted. This is enough to drive a person to drinking. Hmm...is that why I had a glass of wine about 10 o'clock last night? And now northern Australia is being hit by its second major cyclone in two months. This one is a monster as was the previous one. What the heck is going on here? No, don't ask The Bush as he won't have an answer for that one.

I do wish someone had the answer regarding immigration into this country. The illegal crossings from Mexico have gone on far too long but The Bush was correct in stating that you can't just deport 11 million people all at once but what is to be done to correct the situation. Will building a Berlin type wall correct the problem? I don't think so. How about enforcement of the laws already on the books? That might be a start.

Immigrants Rights?

When are some people going to learn that LEGAL immigrants have rights but ILLEGAL immigrants don't. It's that simple. Break the law, get deported or go to jail. On the other hand you can work through the system and be supported by U.S. Agencies to become a legal citizens and everything that entails. What is so difficult about this concept for some people? I am not, however, for increasing penalties on those already here illegally. That won't accomplish anything.

Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day...

Unfortunately those days keep coming and coming and coming. While I was stewing over this today I discovered a website with beautiful and dramatic photographs of skies over the State of Missouri. These photos includes sunsets, storms, and the Northern Lights. Seeing these striking photos lifted my spirits somewhat.

I have always thought of cats (and many animals) as being rather intelligent and here is a case of a cat that saved a baby's life.

I still do not know what to do about my crazy next door neighbor who plays his thumping music so loud at times that our common wall literally vibrates. He told me that he has a right to listen to his music but he is really unclear on the concept about not disturbing his neighbors. He is in violation of his lease agreement by doing so but our do-nothing apartment management is hopeless. If I were the manager he sure would be evicted quickly and I am sure that our manager who died a few years ago would have taken issue with this guy's arrogance and done something to settle the issue. The property management company which is in a neighboring city is never here to see what is going on so I don't expect any resolution to this problem anytime soon.

SF to Seattle: Butt out!

If we want to complain about the rain, we can complain about it. Besides, our rainy season usually coincides with Standard time. That is, October through March. This winter it won't stop but maybe we are paying for the extra amount of warm dry weather we had in October and November which lasted until about one week prior to Thanksgiving. I just knew we would pay for that and we are. Grrrrrrr......

I guess I should explain about the headline above. A headline in this morning's San Francisco Chronicle read: Seattle to SF: Lighten Up. So this is my response to that.

The Cherry Blossom Festival opened today to a torrential midday downpour so I cancelled my plans to go the Japan Center complex for any of the events. I will not have time tomorrow and no telling what next weekend will bring us. If next Saturday is decent I will try it again as I would like to get my annual dose of Taiko drums by way of San Francisco Taiko Dojo. Unless they moved indoors from the Peace Plaza, today's event would have been rained out as were two SF Giants games earlier this week. What a mess and I hear that some people might be growing webbing between their toes. Ha! (Or is that some sort of fungus?)

English, English, English

Another thing that ticks me off is these high school students who fail the exit exam and then complain that the test should have been given in their native language. Well, sorry guys, but English is the language of this country and to operate in the business world here you must know the language. Taking a test in another language is totally meaningless. I tell you this, the school district that caves into this foolishness will certainly lose my respect.

Legal - SI, Illegal - NO

These illegal immigrants who carry the Mexican flag and who are clammoring for immigrants rights are way off base. You break the immigration laws of this or any other country and you cannot expect to be granted rights that legal citizens have. These demonstrations in the streets of several cities have driven this middle-of-the-road citizen up the wall and as a result I have no sympathy for the law breakers. You need to get your act together before you get any sympathy from me.

More faulty thinking at SF City Hall

Now the boobs who have created no smoking zones at bus stops and on city golf courses are going to designate certain city fire hydrants sources of drinking water during the next big one. WHAT? Are they brain dead? One of the reasons San Francisco burned more than it shook in 1906 was because the earthquake damaged the city water system and there WAS NO WATER AT THE HYDRANTS for the fire department to use. Are city water pipes any less vulnerable in 2006? I don't think. What are they smoking at City Hall anyway????????

Oh really???

I don't know why I never noticed this before however I find this rather funny. At the bottom of Federal Tax forms is a line which reads in part "For Paperwork Reduction Act Notice, see..." (blah, blah, blah). Ha! Whoever heard of the IRS or any part of the U.S. Federal Government reducing paperwork. If anything it keeps increasing year after year. I think that line on the forms is the biggest oxymoron of the century.

Stupid Law

I am not a smoker but if I were and played golf, I would publically defy the latest creation of our Board of Stupidvisors and I would smoke on the golf course or at a bus stop and/or at other outdoor locations. These brain dead idiots we have at City Hall are really too much and Jake McGoldrick is one of the worst of the lot. This latest legislation is another piece of garbage from people who can't run the city but who are so eager to invade the personal lives of people or who want to set foreign policy or who want to impeach the president, none of which is their business. How the hell did we get such a stupid bunch of people in there in the first place?
