I really don't know what to write here these days. It is depressing as the political situation goes from worse to worse, not only because of what Bush & Co. have unleashed on this country and the world but because of the inability of some U.S. citizens to see what is wrong. One growing controversy seems to be about those of us who would now like to live somewhere else. One letter writer to the SF Chronicle this morning even suggested that we are the enemy. How absurd but yes, I would like to live somewhere else. I have been other places in the world and have met some very nice people in those countries but now I am embarrassed to travel abroad and identify myself as American because of what Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld and Rove have unleashed on the world. The most bizarre thing is that some people will suggest a third world country for us to live in. Why not one of the major developed countries, of which there are many, or are they so blind that they think this is the only country that has anything of worth? Actually, from a technological standpoint, we are behind other countries. For example, our cell phone system sucks and our railroads are pathetic. Also, our health care system is practically non-existent and we have an election system that is archaic and falling apart. And who the hell needs 100+ channels of TV? Ninety-nine percent of the programs are crap in the first place. People should get a life!

No country is perfect but it would help if we had a country in which radical religious fundementalists did not exist, or at least have the power they do, and we had leaders who wants to work with all people at home and abroad. We cannot continue to be the policemen of the world and try to enforce our ways on other countries. There is too much at stake here, including global warming, but, no, Bush sticks his head in the sand and won't listen to reason. This country would not even sign the Kyoto treaty. How pathetic!

What will it take to wake people up?
