Time for rest, I hope

After yesterday's very stressful day, I need a five day weekend but since I can't get that, I will have to cram all the fun and relaxation that I can have into two days. Will that be possible?

I am still puzzling over the stresses of yesterday especialy since I may have to endure this for the next twelve weeks while my co-worker is out on maternity LOA. I can't afford too many days like yesterday so I need to find a way to handle the situation better. How to handle stress! What is the solution?

Well, the SF Giants are pulling out of their slump just as the Dodgers ran into a buzz saw in Colorado and got swept by the Rockies. After a huge lead created in the first part of the season we went into a slump and became tied for first place with the Dodgers but now the Dodgers are 2.5 games out. This is getting to be an interesting season and last night's win over the Rockies did help my mood considerably. GO GIANTS!

Now I must go into the office to finish up some paper work left over from this week which will enable me to get started with a clean slate Monday morning.

Bye y'all...

Day from hell

I don't know what the problem was but something sure tired me out big time today. It wasn't that there was that much to tire me physically but I was beat by the time I got home. So I took a nap for about forty minutes but that did no good. When I got up I heated up some soup which I ate along with some French bread. That did not revive me either but for some reason a large glass of cold water did. Was I dehydrated today and if so, can that effect a person's mood as well as physical stamina or lack thereof? Anyway, while I was at work, everything was a trial for me so 5:30 PM could not arrive soon enough. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Some discouraging news I read today is that some of the hawks in the Bush administration now want to go after Iran. What is the matter with these nincompoops anyway? I am so embarrassed to me an American at this time in our history. These men in Washington are such morons!

I guess I better get a good nights sleep and forget about those idiots before I get my blood pressure up. I feel so helpless however as Bush and his henchmen will not listen to reason from outside the administration and I think our congressional leaders are totally useless. The scariest thing is that so many people in this country think Bush is doing a good job. Why don't they wake up to what is really going on?

Well, tomorrow is another day. Oh, I already said that. Sorry.

Later...
TGIF

Yes, I am glad that it is Friday however when I wake up and read news stories like the one that follows, I wonder if life is worth it. That is, what is wrong with some people especially the younger generation? Read on...
----------

BERLIN (Reuters) - Two German teenagers have laid waste to a school, wrecking 25 classrooms with hammers and killing the janitor's fish with a fire extinguisher. The boys, 14 and 17, caused one million euros ($1.2 million) of damage by smashing up furniture and ripping out water pipes to flood the school in the Bavarian town of Fuerth, police said Friday. They also set fire to the adjacent kindergarten. Amid the chaos, the pair emptied a fire extinguisher's contents into the tank of the luckless fish. The boys said they embarked on the three-and-a-half-hour orgy of violence because it was fun, police said. The younger boy said he also hoped that by wrecking the school, he would get out of having to attend. Both of them now face a spell in a young offenders' institution instead.

Fun indeed! What sickness prevails in this world!?!?! No wonder there are wars and rumors of wars and we never break the cycle. Maybe nuclear weapons are a good idea. If properly used we could eliminate the human race and let nature take over once again. That is a drastic "solution" but hey, nothing else seems to work.

And with this cheerful thought in mind I guess I will go to work for one more day this week. Oh, why is it that four day weeks seem as long as five day work weeks?

Cheers...

After five o'clock

Somehow I slogged through this day. It should have been Friday but it wasn't so I guess I have to do it all over again tomorrow. Sometimes I wish I could just vegetate on a beach somewhere. If that is you and you are looking for some good beaches in the U.S., here is an article about the best rated beaches.

xxxxxxxxxx

MIAMI (Reuters) -- Hawaii's Kaanapali Beach topped this year's list of "America's Best Beaches," released Friday by a coastal scientist who lauded its white coral sand and clear emerald-green waters.

The 3-mile beach on the dry and sunny side of Maui earned the No. 1 spot on the annual list compiled by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, director of Florida International University's Laboratory for Coastal Research.

Leatherman, nicknamed "Dr. Beach," has taken on the enviable task of visiting beaches nationwide and ranking them on 50 criteria that include sand and water quality, water temperature, absence of litter and balance between nature and man-made amenities.

Kaanapali is one of four Hawaiian beaches to make the top 10, and the seventh Hawaiian beach to win top honors in the past eight years.

Rounding out this year's list are No 2. Florida's Fort DeSoto Park; 3. North Carolina's Ocracoke Island; 4. Hawaii's Hanalei Bay; 5. Florida's Caladesi Island State Park; 6. New York's Main Beach in East Hampton; 7. Hawaii's Makalawena Beach; 8. Hawaii's Hanauma Bay; 9. Florida's Cape Florida State Park and 10. Cape Hatteras in North Carolina.

Leatherman, who holds a doctorate in environmental sciences, released the rankings for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, which traditionally kicks off the U.S. summer beach season.

Now there, doesn't that get you to thinking about a place to visit? For me, I would like to visit some of the beaches in Thailand. Some of those in the southern part of the country are great and usually unspoiled by development.

Someday....

Isn't it five o'clock yet?

Since it isn't, I have been goofing off anyway. hahaha

Well, it seems that some people in Rome accept marriages from Las Vegas as legitimate. (See news story below.)

xxxxxxxxxx

ROME (Reuters) - Getting married in Las Vegas is no laughing matter, Italy's highest court has ruled, rejecting a woman's appeal against bigamy charges.

The woman, named only as Cristina M., was found guilty in 1996 of bigamy and sentenced to eight months in jail after magistrates discovered that she got married in Las Vegas in 1988 before her first marriage in Italy was annulled. Cristina M. told the high court that the Las Vegas service had been "a joke," but the judges ruled against her on Wednesday, deciding that a quickie marriage in a Las Vegas registry office was just as valid as a full-blown church wedding.

A court official said she would not have to go to prison because a statute of limitations meant too much time had passed to warrant a jail term.

I wonder what the pope would say about that.

Later...
Quiet night

Surprise! My upstairs neighbor was actually quiet last night and I got a good night's sleep. I wonder how long this will last. How many days until his next all night party?

Here is an interesting story I saw this morning from Reuters.

------------------

LONDON (Reuters) - German Shepherds are Britain's most unlucky canines according to a survey of the nation's dog owners.

Accident-prone Alsatians suffered the most number of calamities, from swallowing toys to getting their heads stuck in cat flaps, the poll of readers of Our Dogs magazine said Thursday.

The research also found that one of the most common accidents dogs suffered was falling down the toilet. However the greatest tale of woe belonged to a Bull Terrier, which ate a bottle cap, plastic wrap, a toy car and some wire. The greedy mutt was put on a drip while an operation was carried out to remove the items -- and it promptly ate the drip as well.

----------------

Hmm...does this mean give new meaning to the phrase "you drip". Well, back to work for a few minutes or hours or whatever.

So far - so good

It seems like the evenings here always start out quietly but get noisy later. Tonight might be different. Who knows. Sometimes I think there are different occupants in #301 at different times due to the differences in apparent lifestyles. Certainly last night there were people coming and going all night. I know someone is up there now as I write this as I have heard a few sounds but there have been no loud noises or voices. Strange!

Gee, President Bush has signed a tax cut bill and I might get a $50 rebate check. Whoopee! This is supposed to help the economy? Well, Mr. Bush, I am going on vacation later this year and I will spend that money in Italy! So take that you chump! We need improved health care and better schools, not meaningless tax cuts.

My co-worker is out on maternity leave now and while I can probably handle it alone, I might have put in some extra hours to catch up. I do not mind some time on Saturday mornings to clean up paper work but it would be nice if they would pay me for it instead of my volunteering my time. I could put the money with Mr. Bush's tax cut and have even more fun in Italy.

I just hope I get a good night's sleep tonight.

Sleepless in San Francisco

After a relative period of quiet, the jerk who lives over me in Unit #301 is up to his old tricks again. That is, having late night parties. This time it was even worse. It did not get quiet until 4:30 AM today. He is a disaster zone by himself as he sounds like a herd of elephants when he walks and since he can't stand or sit still for longer than one minute, the problem is made even worse as he repeatedly goes from one end of the apartment to the other. He also keeps he kitchen window wide open so the sounds of banging pots and pans and dishes echoes through the courtyard and into my apartment. He walks with heavy feet and speaks with a loud voice and he seems to like to stand by his open kitchen window when talking on the phone and again, in a loud voice. What the hell is the matter with that s.o.b.? There will be a letter of complaint with my next rent check, that is for sure, and if he does this again, I would be tempted to call the SFPD and charge him with disturbing the peace. First, though, I would like the building manager to handle the situation if possible.

The evil part of me would lke to get into the unit above him and give him a dose of his own medicine but that would not help things. Actually, I don't think anything would help other than getting the guy out of the building. The noise prior to 10 PM is disturbing enough but when it continues late into the night and into the early hours of the morning, he has gone too far and way out of line. If I were the building manager, I would evict him. Unfortunately, I'm not!

Hopefully I can make it through this day without falling asleep.

Bye for now...

Wonderful weather

Well, now that we had to return to work, the weather turns beautiful again. Actually, we have had some nice weather on weekends, just not enough of it to suit me.

Bills, bills, bills. Now I have to renew my P.O. Box in addition to everything else. There seems to be a never ending flow. Why can't Bill Gates contribute to my well being??? hahaha And did you hear how much money he has lost recently? I don't remember the exact figure but I think it was in the mid nine figures. If that money had gone to the U.S. Treasury, the national budget might be in better shape than it is now. That one person could have that money almost seems obscene but I would not deny him. I just wish he would make his Windows operating system and Internet Explorer secure and find the coding flaws BEFORE he releases a new version. Is that asking too much. Well, that is my big gripe for today.

Ciao!
Test

Somebody asked what the previous posting was about. Well, I was editing my links so I wanted to see if it went through. It did...after the third try. I will return. You have been warned. :-)
Ahem...testing one two three. End of test.
I'm back

Although I am not sure why, I will attempt this again. Some days I seem to want to blabber on and on and on others I can't think of anything. One mistake I made with the old page was to try to write something everyday. That may work for some people but not for me. I guess I hate deadlines. Anyway, I am starting this new page in hopes of doing better with it than the old one.

C u later...
